Buckingham Place, Fort Collins Neighborhood

Buckingham Place is a quaint little neighborhood on the north east edge of Old Town. The neighborhood boasts excellent proximity to downtown and sits smack in between Fort Collins two most popular breweries, New Belgium Brewing and Odell Brewing with Fort Collins Brewery just down the street as well. It’s also just steps from the Poudre River, the Poudre trail and Buckingham Park which features open green space, a baseball field, basketball court and pavilions.

Buckingham Place consists of about 100 homes, most are early 1900s bungalows situated on fairly large lots, around .15 acres. The neighborhood has historically been very affordable compared to other parts of Old Town but prices are on the rise with increased renovation taking place in the neighborhood and high end developments popping up just on the other side of the river. At the time this article was written in December 2012, a development proposal is under review to build an outdoor amphitheater style concert venue on the banks of the river just a couple blocks southwest of the neighborhood. There is, however, considerable opposition to this development considering it’s proximity to the river so nothing is a done deal. Another item to note, although a large levee runs along the river protecting Buckingham Place and the surrounding area, the neighborhood does, along with many other Fort Collins neighborhoods, sit in the Fema floodplain X. The bottom line, Buckingham Place is an up and coming neighborhood that should experience continued appreciation due to its affordable prices, premium location, and increasing renovation.
